How claiming works

  1. 1

    Find your listing

Search by CSLB license number for an exact match, or by business name.

  2. 2

    Verify you own it

We confirm the claim against a business email already on file for that license, so a listing can only go to the business behind it.

  3. 3

    Manage your profile

Update your details any time from your dashboard. One claim per license.

Your CSLB record stays read-only

License status, bond, workers' compensation coverage, classifications, and the date we last checked the public record cannot be edited by anyone, on any plan. That is the whole point of the site: homeowners trust it because nobody can pay to change what it says. Claiming controls your business details, not your license facts.

Questions contractors ask

Does it cost anything to claim my listing?

No. Claiming is free and always will be. Your license facts are public record, so your profile exists whether or not you claim it. Claiming simply puts you in control of the parts that are yours: your contact details, description, services, and service area.

How do you confirm I actually own the license?

We verify the claim against a business email address already associated with that license, such as the address published on the business website. That ties the claim to the license itself rather than to whoever happens to fill in a form, which is why one license can only ever be claimed once.

Can I change my license status, bond, or classifications?

No, and neither can we. Everything sourced from the California Contractors State License Board (license status, bond, workers' compensation, classifications, and the date we last checked) is read-only for every account at every tier. If a CSLB fact looks wrong, use the report link on your profile and we will re-check the public record.

What if you do not have a working email for my license?

You can still claim it. The claim page for your listing offers a manual review path: email us from a business address with your license number in the subject, or place a short verification token we give you on your website or Google Business Profile for 24 hours. We review manual claims by hand within 2 business days.

Not the owner, or spotted something wrong on a profile? Use the report link on that listing and we will re-check the CSLB record. You can also read how our verification works.
